Hidden away on Division Street, just south of Canal, this candlelit basement Italian eatery has been serving the Lower East Side since 2007. Bacaro is known for its pasta and Venetian small plates—fried zucchini blossoms, rice balls, salami and cornichons, to name a few—and extensive Italian wine list. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to another time and place that looks, feels and tastes like Italy. Long wooden tables and benches, exposed brick walls, rough-hewn slate floors, and candlelight make for the perfect atmosphere for lingering conversation.
