Robert Bowne established the store in 1775 and evolved the business into a long-standing beacon of quality artisanship, earning the title of New York’s oldest operating business under the same name. In its current incarnation, Bowne & Co., Stationers offers an experience that harks back to the 19th century with visitors able to experience traditional letterpress printing in a charming, old-world atmosphere. Additionally, the space has become a popular venue for book launches and other special events.
