Byredo
Byredo’s New York Flagship store—sleek, minimal, inviting—is a haven for scent memory by way of fragrances, candles, bath oils, and body lotions from the cult Stockholm luxury house. Located on Wooster Street in SoHo, Byredo keeps good company with Gucci and Celine just a few steps away. Beyond the scent offerings, the store houses a range of leather-goods that are free of visible branding and hardware—in line with the house’s pared-back design aesthetic. Byredo SoHo is worth a visit for its trademark scents (Gypsy Water, Mojave Ghost, Black Saffron, to name just a few) as well for its more experimental fragrances such as one inspired by the scent of leather, which, as the story goes, was originally slated to be called Hell’s Hundred Acres, a midcentury nickname for SoHo.
