Cosme
The team behind Cosme know the value of a well-curated, dimly lit and ultramodern dining room, sincerely inviting and hospitable staff, and artfully plated yet perfectly portioned courses. Chef Enrique Olvera is the mastermind behind the highbrow Mexican restaurant, which he opened in late 2014 following the success of his white-hot dining destination in Mexico City, Pujol (ranked #3 among Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2014 according to Restaurant Magazine). Olvera hired chef Daniela Soto-Innes to assist him with the task of growing and maintaining a demand for upscale Mexican cuisine in NYC. Fun side note: Soto-Innes actually got her start by lying about her age. She started working as a chef at the age of 14 and was brought on to help open Cosme at the age of 23 (now with nine years’ experience under her belt).
Yes, you can certainly find outstanding $3 tacos in a few hole-in-the-wall spots or food trucks scattered throughout the city but Soto-Innes has you craving her more refined, locally sourced tacos, small plates and sizable entrees for lunch, brunch, and dinner. Menu highlights include seasonal specialties such as an eggplant tamale, uni tostada, and the New York strip steak tacos.
