Inside a quaint facade on MacDougal Street in Soho, you’ll find Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza in New York. Obviously, the pie game has to be strong to survive in this city, and Emmett’s has risen like Rocky as a contender. Here, in a candlelit setting that belongs on all first date lists, the crusts are so thick you might think you ordered a pizza – and a bread bowl. And the gooeyness of each wedge is full-proof. But enough about the ‘za. They also have oozing mozzarella sticks, a heavenly Italian beef, and a “no-ketchup-allowed” Chicago hot dog. Opened by a native Chicagoan, the provenance is right too. Keep it Windy City-side by washing it all down with a Goose Island beer.
