Tucked away on 10th street sits subterranean Jazz Bar, Mezzrow, companion to Smalls Jazz Club. The name pays homage to the great Milton “Mezz” Mezzrow, a Chicago-born musician who came to New York in the 1920s where he established himself as a ubiquitous player in the roaring Jazz Scene of the time. Upon entering Mezzrow, you descend a set of steps to the long narrow venue where the stage is set for the music to flow effortlessly through the room every night of the week.
