Ray’s Bar on the Lower East Side pays homage to New York’s iconic dive bars. Cheap beer, wood paneling, leather banquet seats, and kitsch wall art are part of the no-frills charm. True to your classic dive, Ray’s is more a beer and shot joint than a cocktail bar, but the bartender will make you a negroni if that’s what you’re after. The team behind Ray’s includes three nightlife experts who have brought us some of the city’s most beloved downtown bars—Acme, Happiest Hour, The Smile—and the actor Justin Theroux.
