Russ and Daughters Cafe
Russ & Daughters Cafe is located on Orchard Street, a few blocks from the still perennially-packed takeout shop. For the first time in a century, smoked salmon hounds can sit down and enjoy their Russ & Daughters lox at one of the luncheonette-style counter stools, or at a cushy powder-blue vinyl booth in the back. The sleek, understated design draws from classic diner details—white, enamel lunch counters with chrome accents, and herringbone marble floors. R&D fans will recognize plenty of nods to the original shop, like the lighted cases offering jars of candy, dried fruit, and other sundries reminiscent of the Houston Street location. On the walls, you’ll spot black-and-white photographs of the Russ family, which still owns and operates both establishments.
