This fine-dining restaurant by acclaimed industry duo James Kent and Jeff Katz hits all the marks. Perched on the 63rd floor of a landmark Art Deco tower in New York’s Financial District, SAGA boasts one of the best skyline views in Manhattan. Taking up residency in a former private apartment building, the decision was made to preserve the rarified space to still feel like an apartment, with the dining area’s 16 tables positioned across multiple rooms that open onto intimate outdoor terraces. The food, a seven-to-10 course tasting menu with a focus on seafood, is decided for the most part by the kitchen, allowing for a truly relaxing dining experience. In keeping with the more laid-back vibe of this fine-dining establishment, the staff, music, and dress code (of which there is none) are more in step with a casual downtown eatery.
