Sushi Nakazawa, the namesake West Village haunt of chef Daisuke Nakazawa, is an instant-hit with both sushi aficionados and novices alike. Nakazawa is a protégé of sushi master Jiro Ono, and was featured in his 2011 documentary Jiro Dreams Of Sushi, which can only attest to his omakase skills—the only dining option available at his restaurant. In a compact black-and-white setting, a 10-seat bar with marble countertop is available for ‘purists,’ or one can reserve a spot in the 25-seat back dining room, where the 20-course tasting menu costs $120 as opposed to the $150 at the counter. Rest assured, either option will satisfy your hunger for delicious, raw dishes with impeccable presentation.
