THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART
1000 5th Ave, Manhattan, NY, 10028, USAThe Metropolitan Museum of Art (colloquially The Met) is grandiose in every sense of the word. The main building, located on the eastern edge of Central Park, along Manhattan’s Museum Mile, spans almost quarter of a mile long and occupies more than 2,000,000 square feet. Head indoors and see a permanent collection that contains more than two million works, divided into nineteen curatorial departments. That or a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit like the drawings (not paintings) of Van Gogh, a conceptual art show by John Baldessari or the Romantic Sublime of the late Alexander McQueen’s Savage Beauty. The atmosphere is magical and it doesn’t get more quintessentially New York. During the summer, make sure to check out the martini bar (and stars) on the Roof Garden Café.
