LAFAYETTE
Andrew Carmellini’s “grand cafe” has opened to much pomp and circumstance. With partners-in-crime restauranteurs Luke Ostrom and Josh Pickard, Craft alum Damon Wise as chef de cuisine, Aureole’s former pastry chef Jen Yee, and Per Se veteren James Belisle baking bread—phew, we’re out of breath already—the former Chinatown Brasserie space is now transformed into the largest all-day French bistro this neighborhood has ever seen. Highlights include the spacious art-deco ambience, beautifully made cocktails with ingredients like pink peppercorns and egg whites, and the bakery’s late-night hours. Foodie scenesters will be eating and critiquing at Lafayette for the forseeable future—head up to NoHo and check it out for yourself while the rotisserie is still burning hot.
